. 50 in columbia. 54 in washington. and kent island, coming in at 52. winds generally out of the west and southwest. all of this air coming from the pacific. moved across the country. next 24 hours, we'll be watching more wild temperatures here in the east. really no super cold air here. extreme northern sections of new england. still above normal. but colder than our regions. generally low 30s and 40s. down to the south, this is the pressure we saw. it's causing a lot of rain in south texas, going to spread across the south. could see several inches along the gulf coast. for us, it will spread clouds in here sunday night. sunday morning, looks like an all-day rain. but the clouds, temperatures are going to stay in the low 40s on sunday. looks like a wet end of the weekend, but saturday, still mild temps. a weak front to the north. cooler. for us, generally a west/southwest wind. then a southeast wind off the ocean. keeps us in the mild side. most of the area, even from the mountain areas of virginia and west virginia, up to new york state. we'll probably just see rain. maybe just a t

, primarily in effect for york, carroll county, frederick, washington out to allegheny, along the potomac, and along the nonocacy -- monocacy river. and further west in maryland, farther west in maryland, melting snow and the rain combined to cause flooding. take a look at the storm as we saw earlier this morning. you can see the big line of showers out to the west. heavy showers. and briefly did cause minor flooding. out west, most of the areas did clear up nicely. but key still have as i mentioned, out along the potomac and out west, still have flood warnings and coastal areas. it's just an advisory now. and adjacent waters will be receding as we're going into a low tide cycle. the high tide occurred earlier this afternoon. that's going to be improving over the next three hours. bernadette is in the outback to look at some of the rain numbers. >> reporter: we did receive a lot of rain, especially in the area that you were talking about, along the potomac. i want to show you some of the numbers here. 2.72 inches of rain here in smithsburg. thurmontux 2 -- thurmont, 2.30 inches. as you go

1 to 3 inches of snow in far western maryland, garrett county. 41 in washington. 46 at pax river. and ocean city coming in at 44 degrees. winds now out of the northwest. brought that colder air in. that's going to be with us pretty much throughout the next five, six, seven, maybe 10, 20 days. got a really cold air mass that's going to head this way by the end. week. snow shower activity around the great lakes. this system into california will once again make its way across the country. by the end of the week. by friday night into saturday. if it's in the right position across the southern portion of virginia, north carolina border, if it goes exactly in that spot there, we'll see some snow friday night and saturday. if it's too far south, it just might miss us. we might be on the northern fringe of it. if it comes a little further to the north and off the coast, we could see some accumulations of snow, friday night and saturday. right now, it's just too early to tell. the storm is too early to tell. looks like continued chilly weather and even colder temps coming. thursday, an ar

overnight. maybe some single digits. 48 in washington. 54 still in pax river. it was very mild early on. because the winds were southwesterly because of this front. the front has gone through the region. winds have gone back to the west/northwest and bringing in the chilly air. 48 in annapolis and kent island. here comes your wet/north -- west/northwest winds. we have wind gusts here, up to 30 here. 30 in oakland. and 30-mile-an-hour winds, with 23-degree temperatures, makes it feel like 5 above zero. 20 mime an hour -- 20-mile-an- hour wind gusts here in ocean city. that system we have been tracking yesterday, it was over, let's say southern nevada, not too far from boulder city. it's now moved out across arizona, new mexico. bulk is sitting over north mississippi. alabama. georgia, south carolina, north carolina. it's going to continue to move off to the east. the northern edge. that's where the snow is. north texas, it's going to be just to our south. the bulk of the precip will be across southern virginia. some spots here along the north carolina-virginia border, could see 8 to 10 i

and cathedral. it's just a couple of blocks south of the washington monument. you can see, there was an underground fire. apparently some type of bge cable caught fire, causing smoke to come from the manhole covers in this block of west franklin street. they have closed it completely between charles, cathedral, and brought in some heavy equipment. you can see fire officials standing by, as well as bge. it is unclear at this point how long this is going to be. how long this process is for the bge repair. and as you can see, this is the traffic coming off of orleans street, onto west franklin, which is route 40, across the city. and it is backed up almost back to the hospital on the east side, over around johns hopkins. so it's causing major, major traffic issues. i might suggest that you go around points north up around martin luther king boulevard, at this point. and then pick up west franklin street, west of there. but right now, on the east side of town, or just west of charles street, that is, you're going to expect major delays in the area. we're going to continue to c

it gets back to normal, which is 40, 41, it's going to feel pretty warm. 27 here. 28 in washington. you think it's cold here? oakland at 9 degrees, folks. that's pretty chilly stuff. 27, ocean city. 28, pax river. around the baltimore metro. mid- to upper 20s around the entire region. so we've got a cold night on tap. if the winds die down to below 5 miles an hour, look to see low teens in a lot of locations. right now, 3, 9, 13, 16. still a breeze going. and that's bringing wind chills down into generally the teens most areas. 18 here. 2 below. yeah, in oakland. that's the way it feels. on your skin, as the heat is removed on your body. that's the way your body responds to those temperatures. 2 below. 17 in ocean city. i think this is definitely an error. all right. we've got snow that moved offshore this afternoon. storm really weakened overnight. we ended up officially at bwi, worth 1.7 inches of snow. but for the year, bwi is already up to 25 inches of snow, which is above what we normally get for the entire winter, officially at bwi. high pressure, cold high. dominating the entire

. it's in a compound off of washington boulevard. right along i-95. now, this is, in baltimore county, right? not too far from the city, county line. it can be seen. the smoke can be seen from downtown southeast baltimore. and you can see the flames are leaping nearly 100 feet into the air. i am not completely sure what is burning here. but looks like some piece of heavy equipment, possibly with some diesel fuel involved in it. because of the heavy, thick, dense, black smoke. there is no word on what has caused this fire. and at this point, we don't know of any injuries. we do see a security guard, waving down fire personnel at the entrance to this yard. trying to get fire back on the scene. we'll stay on top of the situation and keep you updated. we'll keep videotape going as fire personnel just now arriving on the scene. back to you. >> okay. thank you, captain mike perry. reporting live in southwest baltimore. a major fire. some piece of equipment. we'll have more information as it becomes available. in the meantime, we'll check in with bob turk. >> we have a warmup coming our way.
